The deal is bad because the GOP is bad. Could the deal be better if Obama stood his ground on a clean deal or on revenues? There's no evidence that even all the Dems in the Senate would have backed him up. The GOP created the ballooning debt under Bush and left Obama with a bag of dute including revenue loss and unemployment spikes. They love talking about how much the debt has gone up under Obama -- as they love forgetting that they're the reason it came to that.

It's a fakakta situation that will only be repaired if the Presidency and Senate stay Dem and the GOP is ousted from the House in November 2012.
