Laughter

The Bush Administration tries to scam more wiretapping power and provides a U.S. Appeals panel with comic relief:
"Your argument makes no sense," U.S. Circuit Judge Harry T. Edwards told the lawyer for the Federal Communications Commission, Jacob Lewis. "When you go back to the office, have a big chuckle. I'm not missing this. This is ridiculous. Counsel!"

The FCC lawyer representing BushCheneyCo is told that the Admiargumentsents are "gobbledygook" and, get this, "nonsense."

Interestingly enough:
The third judge on the panel, Janice Rogers Brown, did not comment or ask any questions during the arguments.

Possibly because Judge Brown is always reported to be on the short list for Bush Supreme Court appointments, and doesn't want her someday chances of confirmation by the Senate (could be Dem controlled soon) to be ruined if she helps her patron on this?
