Locking

With Bush appointed CIA Director Porter Goss suddenly stepping down on the eve of what may be a significantly embarrassing scandal (I guess purging and politicizing the CIA isn't enough), Time reports that Cheney crony Air Force General Michael V. Hayden is likely to get the job.

Which means far from being slowed by the massive public disapproval of the Administation and Cheney himself (last reported, to my knowledge, at 19%), the puppet-string pulling Vice President is getting total control over the main arm of our international intelligence apparatus.

I guess this means he won't have to create his own competing internal group to falsify intelligence going forward.

He'll own the whole goddamned machine.

You know, I'm sure lots of people have said this but because I don't have a tv I don't know: isn't it weird that this administration exists during this era of sweeping uncertainties? Like I know that this administration has caused a lot of the problems the world is having but they don't have any control of the immigrants scurrying over the borders in the US or the population explosion in the world.
So I heard some woman (from Kansas)on the radio criticizing Neil Young for criticizing the govt. and it occured to me that beyond fear there are real issues confusing people. The timing is just crazy. It's all culminating in a bad way. People are so "snowed" by information that it's causing paralysis. In any other time or place, "the people" would be rising up against an administration that is eroding their civil rights, their food and water and air supply and stealing their money. Yet while Americans gobble up fast food, antidepressants, gasoline and are being inundated with "information" they are blinded. You say that the ratings are low, they aren't low enough. And there are still Americans who can't shed their naiveté and see that there are monsters in charge. It's just awesome to me that all these events and consequences are taking place at once.
