Jay Delivers

I think of Jay Leno as a nice guy comedian who's very comfortable with himself, has awesome taste in vintage cars, still does comedy gigs around the country even though he sure doesn't have to, and not exactly my demographics, which is now more Jon Stewart than Jay or even Letterman.

That said, Leno has been increasingly snarky about the current malAdministration, and this piece recutting the Larry King/Dick Cheney interview with Jay as Larry, is legitimately funny...with bite.

Jay with the jack-in-the-box. "Mr. Vice President, is it true that you know the Devil personally?" "What book was that?" "That's good enough for me." "So Mr. Vice President, how are we going to get out of Iraq?"

Jay has definitely held up The Tonight Show's Middle America reputation. Maybe he's from Boston, but Johnny Carson was from Nebraska, and it's actually to Jay's credit that he still entertains the not hipper-than-thou America. So when he's the late night comedian host who's bit has him trying to assassinate Cheney or peg him to personal oil greed, it's speaking for a lot of folks in that supposed "Silent Majority."

I call that good news for our country.
